Nickolai's Bio
I was born in a Jewish family. My parents were both Jewish, but the family was completely assimilated. My parents were communists, and my Mom was an officer of military counter intelligence, and even after demobilization, she continued to be a KGB agent. All this circumstances influenced the course of my life. I knew nothing about Jewish traditions, culture or the faith of my forefathers.
My father died when I was 9 years old, and the same year I became seriously ill. I suffered from a progressive form of epilepsy. When I was still very young I became a professional musician. In my situation music was everything to me. After I got married, the doctors told me that by the age of 30 I would be in a wheel chair, and could not even tell me what my condition would be like by the time I turn 40. Epilepsy is an incurable disease. When I turned 29 years old and the end of 1984, I became a believer in Yeshua, the Lord Jesus Christ. It was in the time of the Soviet Union. I was mistreated by my family for my faith. At about the same time the Lord let me meet Galina and Slava, who are now part of CJF Ministries and work in Svetlogorsk. Galina and Slava became my best friends, and later on - my spiritual family. Whatever good there is in me from the Lord was put there because of my friendship with Galina, and later on with Slava.
Three years after I was saved, the Lord miraculously healed me. Thanks to His sanctification of my life and true re-birth, God revealed His mercy to me, and I have been free from my disease for over 18 years now! My life was changed, and in 1991 I felt called to serve my Jewish people. The Lord allowed me to study in the missionary school of Jews for Jesus in Odessa (Ukraine). Here for the first time in my life I learned of Jewish traditions and with the Jewish roots of Christianity. There also I received a call from the Lord to write messianic songs and psalms. This ministry continues to this day.
In 1992 I started serving in Minsk as a missionary evangelist of CJF Ministries, and in 1993, when our congregation began, i was ordained for a pastor's ministry. Starting in 1998 our ministry has been growing. First the Lord opened the door in Bobruisk. Everything started with a small group of Jewish people, and then the Lord opened another door - in the city of Svetlogorsk. Right now we serve in 5 cities and villages of Belarus. In Minsk we work with over 120 Jewish people and in Bobruisk there are about 50 people attending our meetings. The Jewish attendance in Minsk and Bobruisk is about 75%. The largest ministry is in Svetlogorsk - among about 100 Jewish families, where Slava and Galina work. It is a region affected by Chernobyl.
All together we have 7 workers now. We have held over 5 conferences and a few seminars in the the republic as well as in other cities of the former Soviet Union. The Lord gave us an opportunity to hold outreaches not only in Minsk, but also in other cities of Belarus and the former Soviet Union: in Moscow, Sochi and even in Germany, and the city of Kemnitz. The Lord also gave opportunities to write and sing Jewish Messianic songs and to record 2 albums of messianic music. Some of the songs which were given to me by the Lord, have been recorded by a Christian group in Belarus called 'New Jerusalem', which has already released a few albums in Russian and English.
